I am also a multi-instrumentalist, playing most of the instruments on my Recordings for the past few of years, with occasional guest appearances featuring other Canadian Artists. In the past few months, I have talented young Nanaimo, B.C, Drummer, Sara Varro — who has been playing drums since she was 5 years old and works very hard at her craft — as my Studio Drummer.
Like the Grateful Dead, Waylon Jennings, John Fogerty, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, and a few other notable performers, Gerry Jack Macks' Music has an eclectic style that ignores the boundaries of genres. While he is predominately considered "Outlaw Country", "Country Rock", and "Southern Rock", his Music is constantly crossing lines into and drawing from a multitude of genres, intertwining elements of Roots, Country, Swing, Folk, Jazz, Rock, Blues, Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Pop, Americana/Canadiana, and many more.
I never really have any idea exactly what genre or genres a Recording is when I release it. The Distributors force artists to choose from a strict list of genres before the artist can release recordings, and I always struggle with great angst when forced to pigeon-hole my Music.
I have four albums currently in the works, but they will be a long-term Labour of Love with a Little Help from My Friends. Welcome, Enjoy the Music.

Sunday, January 17, 2021 — I am currently releasing stand-alone single Recordings, mainly trying to concentrate on Music with high energy and bounce, ranging across many styles from Swing, Western Swing, Country Swing, Pop Swing, Americana/Canadiana, Roots, Jazz, Blues, Pop, and Folk.
I have not dropped the idea of the Sleepy Time Sessions album, and I still plan to complete it. I am also starting work on a Roots/Country-based album, a Roots/Pop/Country mixed album, and a Roots/Blues album.
Born in Mission, British Columbia, Canada, I grew up in a small BC town, Merritt, that I still refer to as my home town.
According to my Mom, my fascination with music began at the age of two and has always been central to my life. I can remember it as early as the age of 3 or 4. I began writing songs at the age of 14 and went on to start my Professional Music Career in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in the early 1970s.
With Legendary Edmonton Musician, Tommy Banks', wife Ida Banks taking me on as my Primary Agent, I quickly moved from a beginner on the music circuits of Alberta, BC, NWT, and the Yukon, to a full-time music career with other agents approved by the Ida Banks Agency joining in, including Edmonton Jazz/Blues Legend Big Miller's agency, plus Ray Sauer of Studio City Musicals, Phil LaSalle of Wilkin Promotions, and a couple of other agents.
In 1976, the Canadian Country Music Connection out of Edmonton published a flattering review including the following passages:
Gerry leans towards Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson for material, and also does a lot of Neil Diamond and old style country music. His repertoire is spiced up by a generous selection of his own material. It seems that every time I see Gerry, he has written a new song, and learned a few new ones that are currently getting a lot of air play. I would hesitate to try to count the number of songs that he can pull out of his memory bank, and sing without the use of a cheat sheet.
In the years since, my Music Range has expanded to include Jazz, Blues, Easy Listening, Country, Folk, Pop, Rock, and more.
The theme of the earlier-mentioned Sleepy Time Sessions album reaches back to the times of Louise Armstrong, Peggy Lee, and Nat King Cole for its inspiration and will be produced to form a pleasant, relaxing, Sleepy Time experience.
Mostly a lovingly crafted DIY project, it will include a mixture of cover tunes from that era, along with several of my quieter original songs meant to capture the cross-genre Easy Listening/Swing/Jazz/Blues/Country feel of those three performers and other popular artists of the time.
I have always had deep appreciation of the people who follow my music and I take every opportunity to remain in personal contact with them.
